POLS& 200 D4: Introduction to Law

Short Description:  This fully online course introducing fundamental concepts, structure and function of the American legal system. Emphasizes the role of law in society rather than rules of law. Includes sources of law, court systems, dispute resolution, constitutional law, torts, criminal law, contracts, and legal reasoning. This course transfers to the U.W. How to Start Class:  Email your instructor to introduce yourself, attend any orientation meetings listed in the Class Meeting Schedule, and use the information below to gain access to any courseware that is used in your class. 
Please Note: Distance Learning courses require active participation and students need to log into their classes during the first week of the quarter to avoid getting behind.

Other Instructional Materials: Courseware used is First Class: To access the courseware please go to  http://fc.northseattle.edu.  To find out more information about using and setting up your computer for FirstClass go to the FirstClass Index page. When installing FirstClass software on your computer please be sure to complete Step 2 which will install the correct server address in your login screen. For more information about this go to the First Class Installation page.

= your first initial and entire last name (all lower case and one word).

Please note:
Student accounts will not be available until the first day of the quarter. Registering after the first day of the quarter your account may take 24 to 48 hours to be activated. 

For classes using an online component, we suggest that you download the free version of Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox and use one of these browsers whether or not AOL is your Internet Service Provider. Otherwise, if you are using the AOL browser, the built in shortcuts may cause problems with most North Online course tools. If you have loaded a special software tool bar such as the Google or Yahoo toolbar this may interfere with your courseware and cause it to not work properly please go to our tech support on Popups and Tool Bars for more information.
